The colored dots next to each number represent the scale degrees relative to the root note (1). These help you understand a note’s function inside the scale:
● 1 — Root note, the tonal center of the scale.
● ♭3 — Minor third, gives the blues or minor character.
● 4 — Perfect fourth, a tension note leading up to the 5.
● ♭5 — Flat fifth, the “blue note”, creates the blues tension.
● 5 — Perfect fifth, stabilizes the sound and resolves tension.
● ♭7 — Minor seventh, defines blues/mixolydian flavor.
● 7 — Major seventh, adds a jazzy, floating tension that wants to resolve to the octave.
On the harp layout, each colored cell corresponds to a note of the current scale. White cells are notes outside the selected scale. The black bar in the center shows the hole numbers (1–10).
Tip: Turn on Degree Coloring to see the same color system applied to every note position.
